Medical Weight Loss
When surgery is not an option, we can still help you to lose weight through Augusta
University Health's Medical Weight Loss Program.
About
Our Medical Weight Loss Program is for patients who are interested in weight loss but do not qualify for bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery is only recommended for adults and adolescents who have a BMI over 40, or a BMI over 35 with other obesity-related problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea.
Medical weight loss is recommended to patients with a BMI between 30 and 35, and is a great option for patients looking to lose around 3-9% of their excess body weight (for example: You could lose 6-18lbs if you weigh 200lbs).
Let us help you achieve your weight loss goals
Making healthy dietary changes and increasing physical activity are still key to helping you lose weight. When you come to us, a medical provider will review your medical and physical history. Under their supervision, a medication regimen is prescribed that will best help you meet your weight loss goals.
