LGBTQ Health
At Augusta University Health, we embrace a culture where all patients feel welcome and know that their voices are heard. An important part of that is assuring our LGBTQ patients and their caregivers enjoy a positive experience when they come through our doors. We have worked hard to bring about a culture that promotes inclusive attitudes, language and services—through ongoing training of our staff and physicians, updated policies, and services to care for the unique health needs of our LGBTQ patients.
As a result of this hard work, Augusta University Health has been named an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign, by achieving a score of 100 out of 100, with full marks in areas like patient non-discrimination, equal visitation, employment non-discrimination, training in LGBTQ patient-centered care, patient services and support, transgender inclusive health insurance, and patient and community engagement.
