Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone complete a survey or post a comment about a physician? Only patients who have had an outpatient appointment with an AU Health provider receive a text or email survey. Results are based on patients who have been treated by the provider.

Are my name and information visible? Patient information is protected and is not visible through online ratings or comments. Any patient-identifiable information is removed. 

Who receives the survey? A few days after a patient’s outpatient appointment at AU Health System, a survey is texted or emailed to the patient. The patient verifies that they saw the provider as listed on the survey and completes it based on aspects of care. This feedback is much appreciated and input is used to improve the care experience.

Do you post all the comments? AU Health is committed to transparency, and this means we publish all relevant feedback—whether it is positive or constructive criticism. However, we do not post comments that are libelous, profane, irrelevant, or those that risk the privacy of our patients. Given this, every provider rating is published regardless of comment status.

What questions are asked? Surveys ask patients to evaluate how well their physician communicated, listened, and showed courtesy and respect toward them. Patient feedback is used to evaluate patients' overall perception of care and to identify areas for improvement.

  • give easy-to-understand instructions?
  • know important information about your medical history?
  • explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
  • listen carefully to you?
  • show respect for what you had to say?
  • spend enough time with you?
  • How would you rate your provider from 0-10?

Why can't we see patient ratings and reviews for every doctor? Best practice indicates that more data provides a more accurate picture. Before we publish a physician's rating, a minimum of 30 completed surveys must first be submitted.
