About
It used to be that when you were faced with surgery, open surgery was your only option. Today, however, there are many surgeries that can be performed using a minimally invasive approach.
Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) services encompass different types of surgical techniques. They include:
- Laparoscopic Surgery: Surgery performed through a number of small incisions in the body that allow tools and cameras access to internal organs.
- Endoscopic Surgery: Advanced flexible endoscopic surgery requires no incisions, instead, surgeons gain access through natural openings in the body, such as the mouth or anus, to perform procedures.
- Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS): Similar to laparascopic surgery, however a procedure is performed through one incision rather than multiple.
- Robotic Surgery: Surgery performed using the robotic assisted technology of the da Vinci Surgical System, which helps surgeons with visibility, accuracy and hand stability.
