The Carlos and Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center in Augusta serves Georgia, South Carolina and the greater Southeast, offering dedicated
multidisciplinary teams with the experience to manage the special needs of adult and
pediatric patients requiring kidney (or kidney/pancreas) transplants due to end-stage
renal failure.
Multidisciplinary team approach: Our team works together to manage every aspect of your transplant care, engaging
other specialists as needed.
Paired kidney donation: This is an option for patients who have a willing, but incompatible, donor. We work
with other organizations to create paired donor/recipient chains. Fill out the Kidney Donor Screening Form.
Blood type compatibility matching: Some patients with type B blood type may be candidates to receive a kidney from a
donor with A2 or A2B blood type. This option may reduce the wait time for a kidney
transplant.
AU Health News
AU Health named Blue Distinction Center
AU Health's Carlos and Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center has been designated a Blue Distinction Center by Blue Cross Blue Shield. The adult kidney donor program is the only one of its kind in the state of Georgia
to be named a Blue Distinction Center.
As part of our comprehensive transplant services, AU Health offers transplant programs
for patients, as well as donors.
Living Kidney Donor Program: Patients with a living donor do not have to wait as long for transplant; surgeries
can be scheduled as soon as work-up is complete. Kidneys from living donors also last
longer and provide patients with better outcomes.
AU Health has the only kidney transplant center in Georgia outside of Atlanta. Patients
can complete pre-transplant evaluation testing and post-transplant follow-up care
at our main center or any of our satellite clinics located throughout Georgia and
South Carolina.
