About Us

The Carlos and Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center in Augusta serves Georgia, South Carolina and the greater Southeast, offering dedicated multidisciplinary teams with the experience to manage the special needs of adult and pediatric patients requiring kidney (or kidney/pancreas) transplants due to end-stage renal failure.

Why kidney transplant patients choose us:

  • Excellent outcomes: Our Kidney Transplant Program offers patients quality care and excellent outcomes. (Source: Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR)).
  • Multidisciplinary team approach: Our team works together to manage every aspect of your transplant care, engaging other specialists as needed.

  • Paired kidney donation: This is an option for patients who have a willing, but incompatible, donor. We work with other organizations to create paired donor/recipient chains. Fill out the Kidney Donor Screening Form.
  • Blood type compatibility matching: Some patients with type B blood type may be candidates to receive a kidney from a donor with A2 or A2B blood type. This option may reduce the wait time for a kidney transplant.

Kidney Transplant Programs

As part of our comprehensive transplant services, AU Health offers transplant programs for patients, as well as donors.

  • Living Kidney Donor Program: Patients with a living donor do not have to wait as long for transplant; surgeries can be scheduled as soon as work-up is complete. Kidneys from living donors also last longer and provide patients with better outcomes.
  • Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program: We partner with Children's Hospital of Georgia to provide care of young kidney transplant patients.
