Dr. Best is a licensed clinical health psychologist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at Augusta University. Dr. Best completed her B.A. in Psychology at Hampton University. She then obtained a M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University. Dr. Best also completed her pre-doctoral internship training at The University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. Afterwards, she pursued postdoctoral training in The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Best’s research focus includes improving disparities and ethics in health care. Clinically, she embraces assisting children, adolescents, young adults and their families navigate through the many challenges of life. These challenges often involve life transitions, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship problems, and/or improving academic performance. Dr. Best also enjoys supporting patients and their families as a Mental Health Coordinator in the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center and other Pediatric Clinics. Using a Cognitive-Behavioral framework and an Integrative approach, Dr. Best encourages patients and their families to recognize how thoughts influence feelings and subsequent behaviors. Overall, Dr. Best is dedicated to interdisciplinary clinical care and improving the well-being of her patients and those in the greater CSRA community.
