I grew up in Pennsylvania and then Georgia. I attended Bucknell University where I ran Division 1 Track and Field. I completed a Masters in Cell Biology at Florida State University and then transitioned to medical school at the University of Science, Arts & Technology. Immediately after medical school, I completed a year of postdoctoral cancer research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and then went into clinical training. I completed my Internal Medicine Residency training at the Piedmont Athens Medical Center and then Clinical Genetics training at the Mayo Clinic.

Cancer Genetics
My research is focused on applying primary cancer cells, stem cells, and animal models of human genetic disease to understand disease pathophysiology, and to develop therapeutic interventions. I use these systems for oncogenic disease modeling and as individualized patient-specific models for basic and translationally focused research.
