I am originally from Chicago where I graduated from Loyola University School of Medicine. I completed fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology at Washington University in St. Louis and Pediatric Interventional Cardiac Catheterization at the University of California San Francisco. I previously worked for over 20 years at the University of Kentucky where I served as director of the Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab and director of the Pediatric Exercise Stress Lab. I retired from the University of Kentucky in the summer of 2021 before joining Augusta University and the Children's Hospital of Georgia.
I diagnose birth defects of the heart, congenital heart disease, in newborns and children as well as acquired heart disease in children and I manage their cardiac conditions through adulthood. I evaluate symptoms concerning for possible heart disease in children including providing comprehensive evaluation and exercise recommendations for athletes. I specialize in treating congenital heart disease in a minimally invasive fashion through interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.
I have performed research in interventional cardiac catheterization techniques, using 3D modelling in congenital heart disease, evaluating and treating infants with patent ductus arteriosus and pulmonary hypertension, and pediatric exercise stress testing.
I teach bedside hand-on skills to medical students, residents, and fellows as well as larger group lectures and have received a Master Educator Award by the University of Kentucky for Innovation in Education.
I specialize in care of the heart, however I evaluate each patient thoroughly to address how their condition is impacting them physically, mentally, and socially. I provide sound treatment recommendations including explaining all the risks and benefits as well as discussing alternative treatment options to allow the patients and family to make informed decisions about their care.
