Safe Health Care
SPEAK UP
If you don’t understand something about your care, speak up! We encourage all patients to:
S = Speak Up
P = Pay Attention
E = Educate Yourself
A = Advocates (families and friends) Can Help
K = Know About Your Medicine
U = Use a Quality Health Care Organization
P = Participate in all Decisions About Your Care
Know Your Staff
Every patient room features a whiteboard—our “Communication Board”—where you’ll see the names of the medical staff caring for you. Our doctors, nurses, nurse assistants and other staff should always introduce themselves and wear hospital identification. Get to know your staff, and don’t be afraid to ask them if you have any questions about your care.
“Code ____”
From time to time, you may hear announcements of various codes over our hospital intercom. All of our staff and caregivers are trained to respond immediately when a code is announced to help protect the health and safety of our patients and guests in the event of a fire, communication outage, severe weather, community disaster, active threats, and more.
At Risk for Falls?
Any fall could cause more injury, which is why we’re committed to reducing risk of falls in the hospital and at home. Every patient is assessed for fall risk; if you are at high risk, you’ll be given an armband along with other safety measures, including education on how to protect yourself from falling at home.
Your Health and Wellness
Our entire medical campus is smoke and vape free to better protect the health of all our patients as well as our medical staff and guests. Talk to us if you are interested in quitting.
Are you up to date on your immunizations? We may talk to you about your immunizations, including the flu and/or pneumonia vaccine.
Safe Environment
Please, we ask all patients to stay on their unit. If you must step away from your unit, please talk to your nurse first.
Families and guests are welcome to visit 24/7. We do ask that those who are here from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. obtain a badge to wear during those hours. Read more at Safe Badging for Guests
