I was born and raised in North Carolina and have always wanted to be a doctor. During my last year of medical school, I was diagnosed with breast cancer - I was only 25 years old and had no family history of breast cancer. After surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, I eagerly went back to medical school to finally obtain my goal of becoming a surgeon. I decided beyond becoming a general surgeon, I also desired to specialize specifically in breast cancer surgery and help other women like myself.
