Colin McLeod, MD

My wife and I are from Florida, and as we spent 8 years at the University of Florida, we became overt Gator fans. We enjoyed four years in Chicago for training but happily gravitated back down South. We are very excited to be in Augusta. We have three young children. Enjoying them and staying active occupies the bulk of my time when off Augusta University campus. We've been to Disney too many times. I enjoy playing tennis or pickup basketball and watching college football on Saturdays. My wife and I previously enjoyed travel before having kids!

  • Clinical Interests

I completed a two-year Fellowship in Movement Disorders following Neurology board certification, to specialize in the clinical care of patients with movement disorders. These include Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonism, Essential Tremor, Dystonia, and others.
Fellowship training included an advanced Deep Brain Stimulation track, which is a particular clinical interest of mine. Botulinum toxin use for movement disorders, and advanced therapies for motor impairments in Parkinson's disease are additional clinical areas of interest.

  • Research Interests

Deep Brain Stimulation quality improvement for movement disorders
Botulinum toxin for treatment of movement disorders
    Exercise benefits in Parkinson's disease

  • Philosophy of Care

Many different diseases cause abnormal movements in our patients. Even patients with the same disease can have very different symptoms. Finally, how these symptoms actually affect the daily life and goals of a patient and family also require individualized attention. Quality care for every patient truly is unique. The goal of a movement disorder specialist is to provide high quality care that fits each patient.
