About
Menopause happens when you stop menstruating due to the reduction of hormone levels in your body - it's a big change for some women. There is also a stage leading up to menopause, called perimenopause, that often begins in your 40s and can last an average of four years. Women can experience physical and mental changes during these years but don’t relate them to menopause because they think they are too young.
Symptoms include, but are not limited to:
- Hot flashes
- Night sweats
- Trouble sleeping
- Mood swings
- Sexual problems
- Irregular periods
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, schedule a mid-life check-up at AU Health. Our Perimenopause and Menopause Program is the only program of its kind in the area with NAMS Certified Menopause Providers (NCMP).
